I HONOR my self, my body, and true self - Learn to love yourself

Hello fellow reader.

Coffe Update: If you read my previous posts, you might know I was a long-term relationship with coffee. I was because following the new year I decided to give it up because it might be one of the things that doesn't go well with my body.

Which takes me to today's topic - HONOURING yourself ( mind, body, spirit). Even though I love coffee, I have to accept that my body doesn't need it. (for now)

Today scrolling through my feed I found this picture. Which takes me to the first point.

1. Slow Down and Be Present

This was about 2 years ago, and despite many battles and efforts, I was still not happy with myself. Truly happy with myself. This meant that I was still seeing my flaws, that I was demanding too much of myself, and just judging myself way too much.

Whilst I was trying to transform that someone on the outside, basically what others saw, my core remained the same, maybe even more suppressed. It didn't make me a hypocrite or a liar, I just didn't know how to reach my self at the core because of me always being impatient. I could say that I was some kind lost.

Until I realised that true change comes from the core. Now one thing I had to learn the hard way, was that everything falls into place if you allow it and in time. Being impatient and fast-paced did not really help me.

Like the air you breath, abundance in all things is available to you! Your life will simply be as good as you allow it to be!
— Abraham Hicks

I chose to slow down, and just allow it. Trust me it's SO MUCH HARDER than said. Simply allowing life to unravel in front of your eyes, and allowing yourself to be true is one of the hardest things I had to do. It's work in progress for sure. But this what makes up life, we grow, we learn and we become better versions of ourselves.

2. Gratitude and Compassion

Be kind to yourself. Be soft. Treat yourself the way you expect others to treat you. Light or dark be grateful for what you have. In order to be able to appreciate, you have to go out, explore, meet people, talk to others, share experiences. Otherwise, you are creating a bubble were only your reality exists and the lines between what's real and what your mind creates will be blurred. Nothing will make you happy anymore, nothing will be good enough, not even you.

Get out there, explore and find space and time for gratitude and compassion.

4. Relax and don't Take Life To Seriously

Laugh! Laugh at yourself, at life, at bad situations. See the positives in each instance where things just went wrong. Usually when this happens is because it wasn't meant to be or because you have a lesson to learn.

5. Day Dreams Become Reality

You know that saying  "Control your thoughts, otherwise they will control you".  Well, this true and tested. Our mind is a powerful tool, but if we leave it to roam freely we will become its slaves. Anxiety is one of the results of leaving your mind to think what it wants.

Allow yourself to daydream about the things you want, positive thoughts. Set your intentions for each day, whether through a journal, meditation or a quick chat with yourself in front of the mirror.

What you say, and you put out there in the universe will eventually unravel.

Until next time!

New Year Resolutions or Setting Your Intentions? 2018 the Year of Change

When it comes to New Year Resolutions I was your girl.

Pen and paper, bullet points and a long list of what I wanted to achieve. Mid-January and the list was all scrunched up somewhere, forgotten about and still as lost as always. No surprise there.

It took a while to understand the complexity of my inner being and why New Year Resolutions didn't work for me.  Despite being very organised and enjoying knowing, there is a side of me that absolutely hates sticking to a plan. Hence why most likely I was never good at sticking to my bullet point list.

If you're anything like me you will understand and you might be wondering - "what's the solution?"

1. Get to know yourself

Knowing yourself better than anyone else is the key to living a happy and fulfilled life. When you know the inner corners of your being you understand your behaviour, you can choose and ultimately you are enjoying what you are doing no matter where you are in life.

2. Set your intentions

Once you know yourself, with the good and the bad, you can start setting your intentions. In this way, you won't abandon your goals for the new year by January. You are making a conscious choice to improve things in your life. Therefore creating a lifestyle and soon without you realising things will fall into place on their own.

Often you will hear you have to have a new year resolutions, you have to set your goals now, you have to "....". Let me tell you that there is nothing in this world "you have to" do. Apply this concept to your New Year intentions and you will find the things that are important to you and worth your time.

With these words in mind, what are your intentions for this year? Leave your thoughts in the comments below. <3

We never see what we are not ready to see | The Invisible Addictions

2017. Invisible Addictions

How to see what you are not ready to see

I didn't want to have coffee this morning and even though I woke up with an amazing idea my brain couldn't spit out words before coffee. Take a sip, ah, much better.

A few days ago I listened to a podcast which encouraged me to talk to you about hidden addictions which keep us in a comfort zone mode.

The way we see addicts is not positive, and we tend to alienate individual based on this. We take pity on them, maybe we try to understand, maybe we don't. Nevertheless, addiction has a negative outtake.

The reason for me writing today is to make you realise that we all are addicted to something, good or bad.

Becoming aware of yourself and dealing with your emotions will bring more peace to your life.

Scientists or doctors might not agree with me incorporating "addiction" in everyone's lives and they see it as a brain disorder and a disease.

But in essence, we all are addicted to something. That doesn't make us less of people, that doesn't ban us from society. I'll explain.

Just stop for a second and watch. Observe the others around you.

2017 is a year wherein most of evolved societies we avoid eye contact. We avoid looking at other people. We avoid smiling to strangers, we are very individualistic and somehow lonely I'd say.

Mainly this is is due to the high connectivity with our phones and the online social world.

If you would take the time to just lift your head up from your digital device and just look and observe. Don't judge, don't be afraid, just observe.

You will see that we are all people, people with big hearts, with healthy minds, and with addictions.

We may not all be on the same level of addiction but we are addicted to something.

An addiction I believe comes from the desire to suppress a feeling in order to feel in control. The most common feeling is "stress" and that can lead to more serious addictions. Apart from that not knowing how to deal with your own emotions can also cause addiction.

However we all go through different life experiences and our cues are different, and consequently our addictions too. One of the biggest addiction in our modern societies is food. Food brings the right chemical reactions in your body to either give you the comfort needed in a stressful situation, or it's a scapegoat when we do not want to deal with certain emotions in our lives.

We are subconsciously encouraged to suppress emotions, to not deal with questions that burn us inside by society telling us who we are and who we should be. The way we actually deal with our own issues is by sharing videos, liking posts, and writing "what's on my mind".

We then become addicted to social approval in the form of likes and shares, we become addicted to our phones and selfies, we become addicted to the things that comfort us and don't take us out from that zone.

I encourage you to adventure in the corners of your mind and heart and observe.

Find your addictions, and most importantly find the root of the problem. Understand yourself, meditate, reflect, and deal with your emotions. Do not suppress them. Find a creative mean to express your emotion, donate your time to a charity, start hiking, go travelling, be present each day more and more.

In this way, you will leave a more meaningful life and you will find your purpose. We are not meant to bow our heads down to the technology that we created.

Are you ready to see? Because we are meant to live and enjoy each breath we take.

Can't decide... Try them all | Honest thoughts about society, not fitting in, and being unique

Soo I've changed how my website looks a million times in the past few months. Why? I can't decide. I want to talk about my photography, about my travels, what recipes I tried recently and social issues. No matter what I chose, or what new Squarespace theme launched, I felt like nothing really suited me.

Everyone tells you, focus on something you love, focus on a niche, focus on one part of "...".

So what do you do when you can't choose something to focus on?

You try them all. You experience. You continue to be unique.

See, that's the problem nowadays. Society tells us what to do, and majority of the time people want to fit in and follow the crowd. When you can't follow just one thing, or be like what they tell you to be, you're left feeling isolated, lost, and wondering. At least that's how I feel.

I never really followed a path, or a social movement. I was always a bit against the current, and it took me places. It made me adventurous and I feel that I've matured quicker (not necessarily a good thing).

However, it also made me feel anxious, fear society and literally confuse myself.

In the end, it doesn't matter if you fit in or not. We all end up in the same place, and it won't matter anymore what society thinks. Be you until the end. Be adventurous, be curious, make your own beliefs, and most importantly trust yourself.

Now I can't promise I will keep this website look. But if you like it, please let me know in the comments.
