Find out what you're passionate about | Curated by Mon

My bedside table has recently turned into a bookcase. I'm an inspiration seeker, and depending on my quests I turn a page in a different book.

Like so by the end of a week I would have already mini hoarded a couple of books from my actual bookcase. I then tidy up and take the ones I don't need back, and so the circle continues.

You're probably wondering where am I headed with this? Well, one night I picked up Talk like Ted, a book that I bought from Amazon a couple of years ago, and I haven't touched it until now.

I'm a firm believer in being in the moment and listening to your body, everything falls into place in the end, and it's just a matter of time. So when I wanted to read one evening, nothing on my bedside table seemed right. I went searching for something and came back with Talk like Ted.

Guess what? It was right what I needed at that time.

Now I'm not going into much detail about the book itself, that's for you to discover. However, the thing that struck me was the question "What are you really passionate about?"

We all know and heard this before: "Find something that you are passionate about and you will not have to work a day in your life" and all the variations of this. It was different this time...

How do you find out what you are passionate about?

1. Forget what you know

Forget everything that you know for a second. Immerse yourself outside the box of knowledge and just look for that something that makes your day, that brings you joy and satisfaction. It doesn't have to be an object, it can be a feeling, it can be the result of something that you do and so on.

2. Narrow it down

You might have nailed it from the beginning, and well done to you! You can move onto the next stage. But for those who didn't, TAKE YOUR TIME. Take a few days or a week, and narrow it down. If you're anything like me and you like a bit of everything and exploring then take a small notebook around with you and take notes. If you are not a pen and paper type of a person you can use Google Keep - I use it whenever I can't get my diary along with me.

3. Worry less

You should care more about what you like and what you want to do, and worry less about what others say or think. If your passion is to, for instance, be around books read books, you will find your own way to make a living out of it - open your book shop, sell books online etc. The point is to stop doubting yourself and go for it.

Read this If you find it hard to overcome self- doubt.

4. Say it out loud

Say it out loud to yourself in the mirror, say it to your friends, verbalize it, talk about it from the heart.

" I,__________, am proud to be passionate about _______. This is what make me happy and brings joy to me every day."

When talking about it use words that are empowering, expressions that reinforce how you feel about your passion.

5. Work for it

Things do come easier when you're passionate about something, but they don't just come by just standing there. You have to manifest it and work for it. We got a different style of work, so I am not going to say work hard for it. Sometimes working hard doesn't mean to be hitting your head on the wall, or put a lot on your shoulders.

Sometimes is about knowing what you want and being persistent.

And that's it! You're ready to take on your new passion. If you're still in doubt, don't forget to take your time. Do more research, explore, go traveling, find yourself and your passion.
