New Year Resolutions or Setting Your Intentions? 2018 the Year of Change
When it comes to New Year Resolutions I was your girl.
Pen and paper, bullet points and a long list of what I wanted to achieve. Mid-January and the list was all scrunched up somewhere, forgotten about and still as lost as always. No surprise there.
It took a while to understand the complexity of my inner being and why New Year Resolutions didn't work for me. Despite being very organised and enjoying knowing, there is a side of me that absolutely hates sticking to a plan. Hence why most likely I was never good at sticking to my bullet point list.
If you're anything like me you will understand and you might be wondering - "what's the solution?"
1. Get to know yourself
Knowing yourself better than anyone else is the key to living a happy and fulfilled life. When you know the inner corners of your being you understand your behaviour, you can choose and ultimately you are enjoying what you are doing no matter where you are in life.
2. Set your intentions
Once you know yourself, with the good and the bad, you can start setting your intentions. In this way, you won't abandon your goals for the new year by January. You are making a conscious choice to improve things in your life. Therefore creating a lifestyle and soon without you realising things will fall into place on their own.
Often you will hear you have to have a new year resolutions, you have to set your goals now, you have to "....". Let me tell you that there is nothing in this world "you have to" do. Apply this concept to your New Year intentions and you will find the things that are important to you and worth your time.
